The Stanley Cup will be in the building for Game 6 tonight in Las Vegas, though the home fans won’t see their team win it. The Carolina Hurricanes are up 3-2 in the series after the most comfortable win a team has enjoyed in the Stanley Cup Final, a two-goal victory last game that wasn’t the result of an empty-netter.
Carolina hasn’t missed a chance to win a series yet in 2026, going 3-0 in elimination games and showing the killer instinct to put teams away. This isn’t a normal round, but a chance to hoist the championship trophy, and that’s sure to bring more nerves into the equation than the Hurricanes have felt to this point.
One player who isn’t showing any trepidation in this final series is Jordan Staal, a 20-year veteran who has found his top form when it matter most, scoring in all five games. Somehow the Golden Knights will need to find a way to keep him from the front of the net if they want to win tonight, but there are plenty of options on the roster to contribute even they do manage to contain the Conn Smythe favourite. Las Vegas will need its best game of the season to stave off elimination and play on a more even playing field in a Game 7 that would take place on Wednesday.
