After a busy day of trades early in the week, things have quieted down leading up to the 2026 NHL Draft. There are still teams with high picks that want NHL players instead and other teams trying to move up, but it seems that everyone is now waiting until the last possible moment to make their deal, hoping for the best price possible.

The Montreal Canadiens are one of the teams that would rather add an NHL player than a prospect with their 28th overall pick, but that trade could come late in the draft as part of a significant move. We saw them deal two first-rounders for Noah Dobson a year ago, and Kent Hughes has always made a trade around this time since being hired. Will he be able to make something happen again this evening?
