Semifinal #1: Sweden vs. Finland
How to watch
Puck drop: 3:30 PM EST
In Canada: TSN (English,) RDS (French)
In the United States: NHL Network
Live stream: TSN+, RDS Direct
The matchups are different, but the same four teams that made the medal round in Gothenburg, Sweden last year have made the final four at the 2025 World Junior Hockey Championship in Ottawa. First up on the semifinal slate is a rivalry between neighbouring nations Sweden and Finland.
The countries have been among the world’s best for a long time now. Sweden has skewed slightly toward skill as their identity (tied for third in tournament scoring with 27 goals), while the Finns continue to rely on solid defensive play to hold their position (only 11 goals surrendered). Which philosophy will win out in the first semifinal?

Semifinal #2: United States vs. Czechia
How to watch

The defending gold medalists had the most lopsided quarter-final, beating Team Switxerland 7-2 on Thursday. They’re not going to have such an easy time against a very good Team Czechia that has lost just one game so far, and just knocked off Canada in the quarters for a second winter in a row. This should be an enteraining battle to determine the final team that will play for gold tomorrow night.
