Game 3 looked a bit too much like some of the games the Florida Panthers played previously this post-season versus the Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes. It was a blowout win with Edmonton taken completely off its game. But there is quite a bit the Oilers can do to avoid such a result from happening again.

It starts with discipline. Edmonton took too many penalties not only at the end of the game when the players got frustrated with the loss, but early on to spoil power plays and halt offensive-zone presences. The Oilers’ power play still looked dangerous and scored a goal even though it went one-for-six on the night. The best thing they can do is get a lead and not have to chase the game as they did after ending the first period of Game 3 down 0-2.

Edmonton still has a chance to even up the series and go home to play a best-of-three with two games in front of their home fans. They have the talent to do it if they can put the loss three days ago behind them.
