Two days after dispatching the Toronto Maple Leafs from the post-season, the Florida Panthers are back in action, looking for a third consecutive win on the road in these playoffs. Their opponent for the Eastern Conference Final is Carolina, and the Hurricanes will prove a tougher test than the Panthers have faced thus far.
The Washington Capitals were far from impressive in the opening round versus the Montreal Canadiens, and the Hurricanes handled them quite easily in five games, allowing just seven goals. Carolina has needed just 10 games to get to the third round, and will be fresher than a Panthers side that just played on Sunday.
Florida ended up looking like the superior team in the divisional final, but that wasn’t the case every game, and often not for large stretches of individual contests. The Hurricanes are a consistent, relentless team, and if there are any extended lapses from the Panthers, they may not be given the chance to make up for them.
