Despite the Florida Panthers going into Game 6 on three consecutive wins, getting better as the series went on, and outshooting the Toronto Maple Leafs on home ice in Friday’s match, the Maple Leafs were able to rebound with a 2-0 win. Two of the players under the most pressure, Joseph Woll and Auston Matthews, had key performances to get the victory.
It wasn’t a convincing win like Florida’s had been in Game 5, and now from playing loose with nothing to lose on the road, the Leafs return to a home crowd that compounds any adversity the team faces with a mix of silence and nervous energy. The Leafs, therefore, need to not only play a solid 60 minutes, but get some early offence to help their fanbase get its energy up.
