Another low-scoring game in the Metro final saw the Capitals tie up the series with a 3-1 win. The winning goal came on a power play,, something that Washington has been trying very hard to create for themselves, though the Hurricanes have been quite stingy with them so far.
Carolina had earned its split in the first game, however, and now plays in front of its home fans trying to take advantage of that early win. The Hurricanes scored a total of 12 goals at Lenovo Center in three wins versus the New Jersey Devils in Round 1, and could use more of that home offence to aid their cause.

Calvin Pickard picked up the win in Game 2 to run his and the Edmonton Oilers’ winning streak to six games. Just as the Oilers were finally getting some stable goaltending, Pickard picked up an injury in the game, and now the team has had to turn back to Stuart Skinner, who has yet to win a game in these playoffs.
Edmonton does have the ability to outscore any struggles from their goaltender provided the number surrendered doesn’t grow too large. The Oilers have been getting scoring from almost everyone, and now add the benefit of last change to really take advantage of their offensive depth.
