After a fairly long layoff, the Western Conference champion Vegas Golden Knights will host the beasts of the east, the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final.
The Golden Knights getting this far isn’t so surprising given that they’ve had plenty of deep runs in their short existence and won the Pacific Division following the regular season. Florida didn’t even rank among the best 16 teams after 82 games in 2022-23, but they ended on a great run, and have carried that right through to the final series of the year.
You’d have to put momentum on the side of the Panthers, who seem to be getting better as the post-season goes on, but Las Vegas is also looking forward to a chance at capitalizing on this instant contending window they’ve held open for a few years now.
