Montreal Canadiens vs. Boston Bruins

How to watch

Start time: 7:00 PM EDT / 4:00 PM PDT
In the Canadiens region: TSN2 (English), RDS (French)
In the Bruins region: NESN
Streaming: ESPN+, RDS Direct, TSN+

Six months after the 2022-23 season began, half of the NHL’s teams, like the Boston Bruins, are now preparing for the post-season, while the other half, including the Montreal Canadiens, look ahead to the draft and free agency hoping to make it back to the playoffs in the near future.

Tonight’s season finale at the Bell Centre will be contested between teams at extreme ends of those categories. The Bruins are President’s Trophy-winners and a favourite to win the Stanley Cup. The Canadiens are looking toward the upcoming draft lottery and hoping their standing at fifth from the bottom is enough to win them the top pick.

Though they are at opposite ends of the contender spectrum, the two clubs still have a historic rivalry to motivate them to play at their best level. The roles have been switched many times in the past, and will be again many times in the future, so there’s pride on the line in what is otherwise a meaningless contest on the schedule.
