Two days after the Canadiens got back into the win column by defeating the Washington Capitals on home ice, they have hit the road for one of their two remaining away games of the season.
The Habs are in Toronto for the final game of the year versus the Maple Leafs, a team that has secured home-ice advatnage for the first round, and knows it will be playing the Tampa Bay Lightning. Toronto’s coaching staff wants to keep the forward corps intact for this match despite the team’s fate being secured, opting to rest a couple of players on the back end instead. Morgan Rielly and T.J. Brodie have both been scratched for tonight.
Montreal is running the same lineup as the winning iteration from Thursday. That includes Corey Schueneman, who will be playing a game for a third consecutive day after participating in a crushing loss in the AHL last night, and Cayden Primeau once again serving as the backup to Samuel Montembeault.
