Bottom Six Minutes Episode XX: Canadiens spoil their own homecoming

The first home finals game since 1993 went about as poorly as it could have.

Down 2-0 in the Stanley Cup finals, the Montreal Canadiens are basically in do or die territory from here on out. Taking to home ice for the first time against the Tampa Bay Lightning, a win was virtually mandatory to keep alive their hopes of bringing Stanley home for the first time since 1993.

They didn’t get it, and now they’ll need four straight to make it happen. Welcome to your Bottom Six Minutes.

It’s a hard game to recap. To come this far and watch the team perform like that is completely disheartening. After a game 2 that they deserved to win, they suffered a back breaking third game that saw the Lightning do essentially whatever they wanted.

I’ll yell at my pets a little, I’ll be a little sad, but more than anything, I wish to show a little hope. The Habs aren’t done yet, and that is about the only positive you can take. Hopefully they’re taking it as well.
