Coming off of an appearance in the Stanley Cup Final, the Montreal Canadiens will open the 2021-22 season on October 13 against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena.

Their second game will be their first regular season game against an American team in a season when they head to Buffalo to play the Sabres.

Their home opener will be October 16, when they host the New York Rangers. It could be Alexis Lafrenière’s first NHL game in Montreal. That game kicks off a four-game homestand that also sees them face the San Jose Sharks, Carolina Hurricanes, and the Detroit Red Wings.

A rematch of the 2021 Stanley Cup Final will take place on December 7 when the Montreal Canadiens play host to the Tampa Bay Lightning at Bell Centre. Their first game against the Seattle Kraken will be on October 26 in Seattle. The Kraken make their visit to Montreal on March 12.

The NHL All Star break will be February 4-5, and lead directly into the Olympic break from February 7-22. If NHL players do not go to the Olympics, the break will be filled in with a revised schedule.
