In Game 3 of the first-round series with the Maple Leafs, we’ll finally see Cole Caufield in the Canadiens’ formation. He will be taking a place to the right of Nick Suzuki, with Tyler Toffoli on the opposite flank to start.

The last time we saw Caufield and Suzuki together was the final game of the regular season, when they each had an unassisted goal and then connected for the final one of the game to tie things up and force overtime. It’s that kind of play the team is looking for from the duo on home ice as the Habs try to generate more offence than they’ve mustered so far.

Eric Staal is the one who leaves the lineup to allow Caufield to come in, reported to be out with an injury. Jake Evans is still unable to get back in as he deals with his own ailment, so it’s Paul Byron who gets the call to centre the fourth line in a role he’s played several times before.
