Since the last time these teams faced off two days ago, the Canadiens have clinched a spot in the playoffs and thanks to the Winnipeg Jets win on Tuesday, they know they are finishing fourth. The Oilers have known for a while that they will be finishing second.

As a result, this game is one final game to prepare for the playoffs. The Canadiens recalled Xavier Ouellet and Jesse Ylönen this morning, and both will be in the lineup.

Dominique Ducharme confirmed that they will slot in for Tyler Toffoli, Eric Staal, and Josh Anderson who are out of Wednesday’s game. Cayden Primeau starts with Charlie Lindgren backing him up.

Joel Edmundson and Jeff Petry are also out of the lineup. Alex Burrows will not be behind the bench due to flu-like symptoms and will be replaced by Sean Burke.

It is an early start for the final game of the regular season as well.
