For our new readers and members, the Top Six Minutes is a continuation of the discussion in the game thread. We try to keep it light and entertaining. Full recaps are up the morning after every game.

Pre-game

  • It’s good to be back.
  • Full speed ahead now, fellas. There are 25 games to be played in 42 days.

1st period

  • Now THAT’S what I’m talking about! We’re 18 seconds in and KK gets us on the board!
  • Uh, oh. Coaches challenge to see if Byron or Lehkonen was offside.
  • Good goal! AND we’re heading to the power play to boot.
  • The Habs have pent-up energy and are taking it out on the Oilers. It’s fantastic.
  • A Lehky goal! We’ve got a Lehky goal just over three minutes in.
  • Stop this fighting nonsense right now, Anderson. We need you not injured.
  • Although, it only took one punch to drop Lagesson so, as you were.
  • What a feed by Suzuki but Drouin just couldn’t finish the pass.
  • But Gally can! A very Gally, Gally-goal finishes off Weber’s post.
  • McDavid loses his cool and heads to the box for roughing up an unsuspecting Kotkaniemi. That was one nasty hit. Not cool, dude. Not cool.
  • A Lehky goal and a Gally goal not just in the same game, in the same period. I am happy.

2nd period

  • That was a fun period. Let’s do that again, please.
  • McDavid and Draisaitl have been split up. Cue the panic button.
  • The Oilers are starting to get an-gry.
  • K, that’s enough penalties now guys. This is usually our downfall.
  • Plus, nobody wants Connor “the elbow” McDavid on the power play.
  • The post is Price’s BFF tonight. I’ll call him Henry.
  • McDavid off the power play is also a bad thing. Neither Price nor Henry could stop that one.
  • Coach’s challenge!
  • Offside baby and the Oilers are back to zero.
  • That’s what you get for elbowing KK in the head. It’s called Karma.
  • A beauty of a pass from Danault sneaks past two Oiler defenders and onto TATAARR’s stick to make it 4-0.

Third period

  • It worked last time, so why jinx it — That was a fun period. Let’s do that again, please.
  • Things are going very, very well.
  • Midway point and the Habs have doubled the Oilers shots on goal 26-13. Bonus: McDavid and Draisaitl are not part of the 13.
  • Argh! Kotkaniemi gets two chances to get his second of the night and can’t finish it off.
  • With 2:51 left, Anderson gets called for tripping. Please do not ruin this for Price.
  • Price grabs his first shutout of the season! Whoot-whoot!
  • That was hella fun.

EOTP 3 Stars

3) Habs were in tight versus the Oilers after not playing in over a week and missing some key players

2) It’s been a hard life

1) Apparently they checked the thread before the game
