It may not have been the strongest performance of the season, but the Canadiens did what needed to be done on Monday night, putting four goals on the board versus the Winnipeg Jets. Josh Anderson started it off with a diving assist, and Tyler Toffoli finished things off with an empty-netter on his second attempt.

Carey Price was busy in his net, making up for some rough play from three new defence pairings in front of him. The saving grace was a quick recovery to form for the previous partnership between Brett Kulak and Jeff Petry, who at least shifted play to the Jets end on their shifts to give their teammates a breather. With that game of experience under their belt, the other duos should have an easier time tonight, but Price will be there once again if the training wheels are still needed.

It seems both coaches were satisfied with the effort, as no changes have been made on either side for the final match of this two-game miniseries. Paul Maurice believes his side deserved a win on Monday. Dominique Ducharme expects his team to be more cohesive and control the play. We’ll see which one of them was right when the final horn sounds.
