The Montreal Canadiens travelled into the Toronto hub on Sunday with a fully healthy squad, ready to take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in the qualifying round that starts on August 1.

This includes four extra forwards and four extra defencemen who will serve as the “Black Aces” for the team should injury or other circumstance necessitate a change of roster personnel. At forward it’s pretty set: Charles Hudon, Alex Belzile, Ryan Poehling, and Jake Evans are the extra bodies. On defence, it is still pretty nebulous as six players are vying for a role on the third pairing.

Prior to the team travelling to Toronto, defenceman Josh Brook and forward Laurent Dauphin were cut by the team, and didn’t join the team for Phase Four.

For the players that did make it to the practice squad, mostly young promising players, this is a huge learning opportunity to be in a post-season environment, where things get much more serious and veterans make their presence and experience felt.

In 2015, a mere five years ago, seven such players had this opportunity. This quiz will test your memory of the organization, and reveal how many, if any, went on to make an impact with the Canadiens in the past five seasons. Good luck!
