Canadiens @ Islanders Top Six Minutes: Keeping it together

Fare thee well, Barclays.

Pre-Game Thoughts

  • So, like four points for Jean-Gabriel Pageau tonight right?
  • I have to say I won’t miss Barclays all that much, with it’s off-centered scoreboard and random ass SUV in the corner.
  • I have an odd feeling the fourth line is going to have a night on the scoresheet, whether it’s good or bad, well I don’t quite know.
  • Would you rather have Marco Rossi or Anton Lundell?

First Period

  • Greiss vs. Price rhyming makes me so very happy.
  • Well the Finns most certainly came to play early on!
  • Dal Colle=No Goal, Carey Price has been sharp early as well.
  • Dave Poulin just referred to Max Domi as Tie Domi, and honestly I just don’t fully know how.
  • Poor Artturi Lehkonen.
  • I’m not an NHL coach, but with Tomas Tatar missing, wouldn’t playing your leading AHL winger on an offensive line be the smart move now?
  • I am very happy for Jeff Petry getting to the 40 point mark again, I just wish it hadn’t given this team a two goal lead.
  • Love to watch a guy start a fight, and not get an instigating penalty over a clean hit.
  • THAT’S THE SHOT, what a beauty goal by Charles Hudon to cap off a great first period.

Second Period

  • Here I thought things were fine, and then Tomas Tatar is now out for the rest of the night.
  • Hudon nearly sets up Dale Weise, amazing what a goal does for confidence!
  • I know it’s not a two goal lead, but the Habs are sitting back a ton and I can’t say I like that at all.
  • Also no one else get hurt please or we’re going to be emergency recalling Allan McShane for Thursday night.
  • Oh come on a penalty kill?
  • Well, hello Paul Byron and hello four goal lead!
  • Alright Habs, maybe chill with the penalties eh?
  • Joel Armia basically killed that entire penalty and my word what a boss.
  • Is it good when fans boo their playoff team off the ice at home?

Third Period

  • With a kick like that Anders Lee could be playing for the Giants these days.
  • And an obvious call goes the Habs way, this game might as well be taking place in Narnia with all the magic tonight.
  • Aw, they scored one for real this time.
  • When the heck did Derick Brassard become an Islander?
  • I really hope that looked a lot worse than it really is for Johnny Boychuk, absolutely terrifying.
  • Some say that Charles Hudon is still holding the puck along the boards in Brooklyn to this day.
  • What a Weal-y important goal!
  • And following it up with two penalties, nothing can be easy eh Habs?
  • Sure it’s an empty net, but Joel Armia earned that goal after his game tonight.
  • Two in a row, HERE WE COME STANLEY CUP!

EOTP 3 Stars
