The Carolina Hurricanes had been enjoying good heath for much of the season. Most of their top skaters had played nearly all the games as the second half of the season began, and the team was looking poised to charge up the standings.

A broken leg for Dougie Hamilton set them back, then injuries to both NHL goaltenders right before the trade deadline really threatened to blow the Hurricanes off course. They’re currently relying on Alex Nedeljkovic and Anton Forsberg to man the crease, but the first game for each has been a loss in the past week.

The Hurricanes will see Montreal’s backup this evening, so they won’t be outgunned in that area. Charlie Lindgren finally gets to step back on the ice after Carey Price started every game since February 4. He’ll try to be a difference-maker as the Habs try to run the Hurricanes’ losing streak to three, and play spoiler for another team’s post-season aspirations.
