Ben Chiarot will miss the Montreal Canadiens’ game Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers with a lower-body injury.

There was no indication when the injury occurred, but it was likely against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. Chiarot missed morning skate on Thursday with what the team originally said was a treatment day.

In Chiarot’s absence, Marco Scandella was paired with Shea Weber, and Brett Kulak skated with Jeff Petry. Cale Fleury and Victor Mete were the third pairing. It remains to be seen who will be tasked with facing Connor McDavid on Thursday.

Brendan Gallagher skated with Tomas Tatar and Phillip Danault and says he feels good enough to play, but will need to get the green light from team doctors. Ilya Kovalchuk skated with Max Domi and Nick Suzuki. Artturi Lehkonen was on a line with Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Nick Cousins. Ryan Poehling, Nate Thompson, and Jordan Weal appear to be the fourth line.
