The Montreal Canadiens have announced they have sent Lukas Vejdemo back to the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League.

Vejdemo played his first four NHL games but did not record a point. He averaged 7:30 of ice time, and the most ice time he received was 9:18 in the team’s 2-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

In Laval, Vejdemo had eight goals and eight assists in 30 games and will likely return to play centre and be a key member of the team’s penalty kill.

The Canadiens now have 12 healthy forwards in the NHL, and it remains to be seen if this move was done with another call up in mind or if someone is ready to return from injury. Both Brendan Gallagher and Matthew Peca have been skating with the team.

Montreal hosts the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday and had a day off on Wednesday. The Laval Rocket head on the road for three games in three days starting Friday in Syracuse.
