The Montreal Canadiens held their morning skate before their game against the Winnipeg Jets on Monday, and Ilya Kovalchuk skated on the top line with Phillip Danault and Tomas Tatar.

Since Brendan Gallagher’s injury, Nick Cousins has been in that spot and he was relegated to a line with Ryan Poehling and Jesperi Kotkaniemi.

Jordan Weal went to the fourth line with Nate Thompson and Dale Weise as it appears that Lukas Vejdemo will be the extra forward.

The line of Artturi Lehkonen, Max Domi, and Nick Suzuki remained the same which was to be expected after they were the best trio for the Canadiens on Saturday night against Pittsburgh.

On defence, the pairings remained the same. Brett Kulak was the extra defender. Marco Scandella remained with Cale Fleury on the team’s third pair.

It is yet to be confirmed but it certainly looks like Kovalchuk will be making his Canadiens debut tonight.
