Group A Preliminary Games
10:15 AM ET: Canada (2-0-0-1, 6 pts) vs France (0-0-1-2, 1 pt)
Canada lost Brandon Montour for the tournament but added Philippe Myers to replace him. They are coming off of a huge win against Slovakia in regulation but need to continue to collect points to get to the quarterfinals. France is likely out of the playoff picture, and while they secured a point and sit ahead of Great Britain, they are one upset away from being right back in the regulation zone.
The game will be shown on TSN 3/5 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.
2:15 PM ET: Finland (2-0-1-0, 7 pts) vs Denmark (1-1-0-1, 5 pts)
This is quite possibly the most important group game of the tournament so far. Finland and Denmark don’t have rosters full of NHL players - Denmark, in particular, has lost Lars Eller whose agreement was to play the first three games and help Denmark avoid relegation, which he has done. The Danes have made a generation of exceeding expectations. Could they turn that into a playoff appearance? They have a chance with a result against Finland. Finland is also not guaranteed a spot. These teams are currently third and fifth. It’s all to play for.
The game will be shown on TSN 3 in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.
Group B Preliminary Games
10:15 AM ET: Sweden (2-0-0-1, 6 pts) vs Austria (0-0-0-3, 0 pts)
Sweden has rebounded from an early loss against the Czech Republic and are getting stronger with Gabriel Landeskog joining the team for the final push. Austria is part of a group of three teams at zero points in Group B. At some point, one of them will need to get some points. The games between Austria, Norway, and Italy will decide who gets relegated.
The game will be on TSN.ca and the TSN App in Canada.
2:15 PM ET: Czech Republic (2-0-0-1, 6 pts) vs Latvia (2-0-0-1, 6 pts)
These are two teams that seem to be in the same place, and they are, but the Czech Republic’s wins have come against Sweden and Norway, while Latvia’s have come against Austria and Italy. This is a big test for Latvia to position themselves for the playoffs, as the Czech Republic will definitely pick up points in the final few days.
The game will be on TSN 5 in Canada.
All games shown on TSN will be streamed on TSN Direct in Canada, but it requires a subscription.
