Group A Preliminary Games
10:15 AM ET: Great Britain (0-0-0-3, 0 pts) vs United States (1-1-0-1, 5 pts)
Great Britain’s bad start got worse with a 9-0 loss to Denmark on Tuesday. It doesn’t get any easier against the United States. Speaking of the Americans, they are currently out of the quarterfinal picture in Group A. They are tied with Denmark in points, and behind Germany, Finland, and Canada. They need to pick up points and should against the Brits. Jack Hughes will play his first game as an 18 year old after his birthday on Tuesday.
The game will be shown on TSN 1/4 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.
2:15 PM ET: Germany (3-0-0-0, 9 pts) vs Slovakia (1-0-0-2, 3 pts)
Germany is off to a great start, and looking primed to make the quarterfinals one year after winning the Silver medal at the Olympics. They are atop Group A and getting great performances from Mathias Plachta and Markus Eisenschmid. Slovakia is coming off of a heartbreaking last second loss to Canada on Monday, and need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Martin Marincin leads all Slovak players with four points.
The game will be shown on TSN 5 in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.
Group B Preliminary Games
10:15 AM ET: Switzerland (3-0-0-0, 9 pts) vs Norway (0-0-0-3, 0 pts)
Switzerland is coming off of a 4-0 win against Austria on Tuesday and is tied with Russia atop Group B. Norway is one of three teams at 0 points in Group B and will need to pick up as many points as possible to avoid relegation.
The game will be on TSN 1/4 in Canada.
2:15 PM ET: Russia (3-0-0-0, 9 pts) vs Italy (0-0-0-3, 0 pts)
The second game in Group B play is a pretty much carbon copy of the first. An undefeated Russian team against a winless Italian team, and this game likely won’t be close. Russia has outscored opponents 13-2 so far, while Italy has been outscored 20-0.
The game will be on TSN 5 and RDS in Canada.
