The Montreal Canadiens travel to Capital One Arena for the first time this season. There they’ll play under the 2018 Stanley Cup Championship banner hanging in the rafters, against the team with designs on making it a repeat performance.

Though the Washington Capitals are on the verge of securing the top spot in their division yet again, the ninth-place Canadiens have enjoyed better results in the season series, with three points to the Capitals’ two. No Habs player is capable of the goal-scoring prowess of Alex Ovechkin, but a full-team offensive approach had them at least tied after 60 minutes in each of the first two games.

A single point isn’t what the Canadiens are looking to achieve tonight. The Metro-leading Capitals are just the latest obstacle in their path as they try to earn a post-season spot. Needing to go 4-0 to finish the year, the Habs are halfway there, and a win tonight makes that task look more plausible than it did when it first began.
