It was a short run for David Sklenicka with the Laval Rocket. The Canadiens farm team has pretty solid depth at the moment, so they determined that the young defenseman was expendable and placed him on unconditional waivers today, opening the door for a mutual termination once he clears.
Canadiens’ David Sklenica on unconditional waivers. Has played just seven games in Laval this season.

He had a reasonably decent run in his seven games this year, putting up a goal and two assists.
The 23-year-old played 68 games for the Rocket a year ago, scoring three goals and adding six assists. He was starting to get more comfortable but with the addition of Josh Brook, and the relative health of the defenders in the organization, Sklenicka found himself on the outside looking in.
Sklenicka was signed the same day as his Czech counterpart Michal Moravcik and ultimately the pair suffered the same fate. This will allow Sklenicka to return to Europe to play professionally.
Jeremiah Addision and Tomas Plekanec are two other players to have their contracts terminated recently by the team.
UPDATE: The process is now complete
David Sklenica cleared waivers. Contract with the Canadiens to be terminated.
