The streak ends with a masterful win against the Islanders in front of the Captains of yesteryear.

For our new readers and members, the Top Six Minutes is a continuation of the discussion in the game thread. We try to keep it light and entertaining. Full recaps are up the morning after every game.

I've been super lucky with coverage this year, haven't seen many losses, and have gotten Mike Johnson on color more times than not. Here's to hoping the wins begin tonight!

First Period

  • Gally not waiting to have a good shift. The Finns either. Kotkaniemi's already played A HUNDRED games???
  • Oops. Habs got away with one there.
  • Brendan Gallagher and Tomas Tatar two-on-one? Yes please.
  • Alas, Olofsson to the box.
  • Bless Lehk.
  • That was a pretty decent PK. Ebs, you're not supposed to hit your own players.
  • Watching this game, it's hard to believe that they've lost so many in a row. They look fine.
  • Fun story about Adam Pelech, His brother played for the Grizzlies for a really, really long time, so every time they play the Islanders I enjoy it.
  • OH THAT WAS FUN. Maybe next time it'll actually go all the way into the net. It's a really good thing I don't write about the Islanders, because I would abuse Greiss, Greiss baby SO BADLY.
  • That was such a nice move from Olofsson at the blue line.
  • There has been a lot of offensive zone time in this game for the Habs so far.
  • OOf. At some point Suzuki and Domi will connect. And it will be glorious.
  • Greiss and Price, that's not confusing at all.
  • And this is why playing hard into the VERY last seconds of a period matters!!! Dayum Danault!

Second Period

  • Johnson's tie and pocket square are very snazzy.
  • Good shift from the Finns. Just waiting on the Finnish. ...I'm sorry, that was terrible. I'll see myself out.
  • Cousins and Weal definitely had the right idea there.
  • Nine wins after trailing? Let's not give them ten.
  • Nice poke from Petry.
  • Presumably one of those high-danger scoring chances will go in eventually.
  • This is a very good period so far.
  • Oh my. Peca nearly scored. The Islanders better buy Greiss a REALLY nice dinner after this game.
  • How have the Habs not scored.
  • I can almost always count on a Gally goal, so it's nice to know that that hasn't changed in the time that I haven't been watching.
  • ....... that was a penalty???
  • Could he go down any more easily though??

Third Period

  • Let's get this killed off.
  • Bless that Lehk short-handed rush.
  • Oh man, if Domi and Suzuki don't score tonight, it will be a travesty.
  • Lucky me!! I get Gallagher AND Petry goals tonight. Just need Suzuki and Lehkonen to score to get all my faves in on the scoring. Of course, Suzuki already has an assist. So there's that.
  • Damn it, Habs. Price had exactly ZERO chance on that one.
  • Come on, Lehk. Get that goal.
  • Please do not let this one go to hell in a handbasket, Habs.
  • Oh my GOODNESS Nick Suzuki has done EVERYTHING but score. Wowwweeeee.
  • I REALLY appreciate the Habs playing this well on the first night I've watched them play since November 20th.
  • Good to know Price is still awake.
  • ...okkkkkkkk.... sure. Four-on-four.
  • Jeff Petry says nope. No scoring for you. Also gives everyone a heart attack as he and the Islanders player are both slow to get up.
  • Come on, Habs. Less than five minutes. I believe in you.
  • Why.
  • Why do the hockey gods hate Lehk.
  • Less than two minutes...I believe in you Habs, if slightly less than I did two minutes ago.
  • THE HABS WIN 4-2.
  • And the Captain gets the first star on Captains night. Icing on the cake.
