Don’t let their place in the standings fool you; the Penguins are one of the NHL’s most complete clubs this season.

Getting some much needed rest after a busy stretch of the season, the Canadiens hope the good form they’ve been showing of late can still be counted on tonight. The team is on the road to take on the Pittsburgh Penguins, a team currently in a wild-card spot but with play strong enough to move them higher in short order.

The Penguins score a lot of goals, even with Sidney Crosby forced to watch from the sidelines, and are very stingy on the defensive side of the puck to boot. They’re a tough test for any team, and a good way for the rebounding Habs to measure how well their own defensive play has come.

Tonight’s game will feature the Canadiens debut of Riley Barber. Expected to play in the bottom six, he will hope to translate some of the offence he’d recently rediscovered in Laval to the top level. The 25-year-old only got to dress for three NHL games with the Washington Capitals, and will want to make a major impression in his fourth to get a longer look.
