The first match in a five-game homestand to wrap up the month of November begin tonight for the Montreal Canadiens. A night after they were in Columbus to face the Blue Jackets, they see the Ottawa Senators converge on the Bell Centre for the first time in 2019-20.

The Canadiens put in a good effort last night but still came away on the losing end after some costly mistakes. Claude Julien is confident the alignment he ran with can clean those up tonight, and is going with the same formation. That includes another start for Carey Price, getting into his first back-to-back double bill of the season. With two off days on the schedule following this evening’s game, the coach and player seem to have decided that will be enough rest to handle two starts in 24 hours.

Ottawa will be no easy mark. They’ve begun to win more games than they lose over the past couple of weeks, and can largely thank Jean-Gabriel Pageau’s surprising offence for that run of results. He’s usually one of the biggest threats on the team when he faces Montreal anyway, but tonight a defence that could be slightly fatigued from playing a night ago will have to pay special attention to the Senators’ top-line centre.
