Nearly six months after the last game for the Canadiens, they’re back on the ice once again tonight. They aren’t taking on a typical rival like the Toronto Maple Leafs of Boston Bruins in the opening game, but after Marc Bergevin’s attempt to pluck one of the NHL’s top young centremen from Carolina’s roster, a new relationship was created between the franchises.

You can expect there to be a few comments on the offer sheet that Sebastian Aho signed this summer from players on both sides, which will add a new element to this meeting. Max Domi hasn’t shied away from using the more managerial aspects of the game in his in-game discourse before.

The contest will feature one rivalry of the sibling variety as Cale Fleury makes his NHL debut versus his brother Haydn. Nick Suzuki also faces the team that his brother Ryan will take the ice for in the near future. Tonight’s result will give bragging rights to whichever two come away victorious.

We saw last season how critical two points can be at the end of the year. For a Canadiens team that will be in a tight race in the Atlantic Division all season long, they’ll hope their two rookies and the veterans surrounding them can be the ones to start the season off on the right foot.

Be sure to post your funniest and wittiest comments in this thread as the game goes on, as we will highlight the best as our 3 Stars in our Top Six Minutes article immediately after the conclusion of the match.
