2019 IIHF World Championship schedule: May 17, 2019

Group A Preliminary Games

10:15 AM ET: Slovakia (1-0-0-3, 3 pts) vs France (0-0-1-3, 1 pt)

What was a tremendous start for the host Slovaks – a win against the United States – has turned into a huge disappointment. Last minute losses to Canada and Germany have cost them a chance at the playoff round, and now are left to play out the stretch. France took Denmark to a shootout and that may be enough to keep them from relegation but it may come down to their game against Great Britain.

The game will be shown on TSN 3 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.

2:15 PM ET: Finland (3-0-1-0, 10 pts) vs Great Britain (0-0-0-4, 0 pts)

Finland is coming off of a big win against Denmark which pretty much secured their quarterfinal spot. Great Britain is going to look to surprise, but they are in tough. They have been outscored 26-4 in this tournament to date.

The game will be shown on TSN 5 in Canada.

Group B Preliminary Games

10:15 AM ET: Norway (0-0-0-4, 0 pts) vs Austria (0-0-0-4, 0 pts)

The winner of this game could very well assure themselves a spot in next year’s tournament.  These two teams along with Italy are at zero points and the team that loses that round robin battle will be relegated.

The game will be on TSN 5 in Canada.

2:15 PM ET: Czech Republic (3-0-0-1, 9 pts) vs Italy (0-0-0-4, 0 pts)

Jakub Voracek and Filip Hronek are among the tournament’s leading scorers for the Czech Republic and they are coming off of a very important win against Latvia for their playoff chances. Italy has been outscored 30-0 so far in this tournament.

The game will be on TSN.ca and the TSN App in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.

All games shown on TSN will be streamed on TSN Direct in Canada, but it requires a subscription.
