Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs: Game thread, rosters, lines, and how to watch

The Montreal Canadiens are facing Tomas Plekanec for the first time since trading him to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Rinat Valiev, Kerby Rychel, and a second-round pick.

There was an optional morning skate, so there is no confirmation on who the starting goalie is, but it is safe to assume that Antti Niemi will probably get the call based on his play in previous games. Carey Price is back with the team, but is not yet ready to suit up for game action.

As for the Leafs, they are still without Auston Matthews, who has returned to the ice, but is still out. Leo Komarov is also out for the Leafs, as is their #1 goaltender, Frederik Andersen.

The Habs will be looking to replicate their fast start against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but maintain that level of play over 60 minutes. To do so they will need Brendan Gallagher to continue his hot streak as well as to continue to get production from Nikita Scherbak, Alex Galchenyuk, and Artturi Lehkonen.

Michael McCarron will be in the lineup tonight and will be looking to have an impact with his new approach to the game. He will most likely be on the fourth line and would be taking the place of one of Byron Froese, Daniel Carr, or Nicolas Deslauriers.
