The United States are the defending gold medallists at the World Junior Hockey Championship. Russia hasn’t gone without a medal since 2010. Tonight, one of those teams will be sent home unable to replicate their recent success.
In a game that could be worthy of deciding the championship, tonight’s clash between Russia and the USA simply determines who will move on to the final four. One of the most skilled teams in the tournament will have its run come to an end.
The question is whether it will be Klim Kostin’s team having that seven-year streak snapped, or if Casey Mittelstadt’s incredible performance at this year’s tournament will come to an abrupt halt. Those two players will have a big say in the outcome of the game.
