2018 World Junior Hockey Championship: Quarter-final 3 — Sweden vs. Slovakia: Preview, start time, TV schedule, and lineups
It came down to a shootout in their final preliminary-round game, but Sweden was able to extend their group-stage winning streak under the current format to 44 games. It’s an exceptional feat, but also one that has rarely been followed up with a championship.
The nation has just one gold medal during that perfect run through the round robin, and has failed to claim a medal of any colour in the last three years.
A quarter-final meeting with Slovakia should give them a shot to make the final four, but the Slovaks have the confidence gained from defeating Team USA earlier in the tournament, and aren’t going to make life easy on those in Sweden watching with bated breath into the early hours of Wednesday morning.
