Denmark has had an impressive run at the World Juniors in recent years. Since winning the Division IA title to get promoted for the 2015 event, they have been among the top 10 nations for four years running. Should they hope to extend that to five, they will have to dispatch Team Belarus in a best-of-three relegation series.
Belarus returned to the IIHF’s Top Division after having been knocked out of the group in 2016 by Switzerland, making their way back for the 2018 tournament. A team hovering right on the line between the elite level and international hockey’s second tier, the nation will be determined to avoid the yo-yoing across that line they’ve experienced and stick around for the 2019 event.
