2018 World Junior Hockey Championship schedule: December 27, 2017

Group A Preliminary Game

7 PM ET: Canada vs Slovakia

Victor Mete and Team Canada look to continue their momentum from their win over Finland in their second game of the tournament against Slovakia. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Canada go with Colton Point in goal for this one after Carter Hart played yesterday, but Hart is the undisputed number one goaltender on this team. For Slovakia, they will be playing their first game of the tournament. It will be interesting to see if NCAA goaltender Dávid Hrenák can start a run reminiscent of Slovakia goaltenders past like Denis Godla and Jaroslav Halak. Adam Ruzicka and Marian Studenic will try and lead the Slovak offence. The game will be shown on TSN 1/3/4 and RDS2 in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.

Group B Preliminary Game

3 PM ET: Switzerland vs Belarus

Switzerland gets their 2018 tournament underway as they play in the World Juniors without Nico Hischier for the first time since 2015. The first overall pick in last year’s NHL Draft will be missed, but the Swiss still have a bunch of unheralded talent that should put them over Belarus. It will be our first look at 17-year-old defender Tim Berni who has been a captain for his country at the younger levels. Belarus, for their part, should be pretty happy with a 6-1 scoreline at the hands of Sweden. They were outshot badly, but the game was tied 1-1 after 20 minutes before Sweden broke the game open. The game will be on TSN 1/3 and RDS in Canada, NHL Network in the US.

All games shown on TSN will be streamed on TSN Go in Canada, but it requires a subscription to TSN.
