2018 IIHF World Championship schedule: May 8, 2018

Group A Preliminary Games

10:15 AM ET: Austria (0-0-1-1, 1 pt, T-6th) vs Slovakia (0-0-1-1, 1 pt, T-6th)

Two teams looking for their first win and looking to solidify their quarterfinal spot and avoid relegation. Slovakia had a lead late against the Czech Republic but couldn’t hold on, and then lost to Switzerland. Austria took Switzerland to overtime, and then lost big to Russia.

The game will be shown on TSN 5 in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.

2:15 PM ET: Czech Republic (0-1-0-1, 2 pts, 5th) vs Switzerland (1-1-0-0, 5 pts, 3rd)

Switzerland is off to a great start, winning both of their games so far against Austria and Slovakia. The Czechs beat Slovakia and lost to Sweden in their second game. Both teams will likely move to the quarterfinals, so this one is key for positioning.

The game will be shown on TSN 1, 3 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.

Group B Preliminary Games

10:15 AM ET: South Korea (0-0-0-2, 0 pts, 8th) vs Latvia (0-1-0-1, 2 pts, T-5th)

South Korea lost big to Canada and Finland in their first two games, so this is their first test against weaker competition and will go a long way into seeing how plausible avoiding relegation will be. Latvia beat Norway in overtime before losing big to Finland.

The game will be on TSN 1, 4 and RDS in Canada.

2:15 PM ET: Finland (2-0-0-0, 6 pts, 3rd) vs Norway (0-1-1-0, 3 pts, 4th)

Sebastian Aho has an insane four goals and six assists in 2 games so far this tournament while Teuvo Teravainen has three goals and five assists and sit first and second in tournament scoring despite having one less game than most players around them. They beat South Korea and Latvia so far. Norway lost to Latvia in overtime, but beat Germany in a shootout.

The game will be on TSN 4 in Canada.

All games shown on TSN will be streamed on TSN Go in Canada, but it requires a subscription to TSN. NHL Network in the US will be showing games as well, but listings did not always confirm which games will be shown.
