The Acadie-Bathurst Titan survived their first test of the 2018 Memorial Cup, getting past the Swift Current Broncos in a game that required overtime, and went on to claim first spot after the round robin to received the welcome rest that came with a bye to the final.

The Regina Pats had a more difficult route to the championship game, needing to beat those Broncos in the preliminary round’s final game to even get into the playoffs. But after accomplishing that feat, they got past the Hamilton Bulldogs in Friday’s semifinal, knocking out two of the three CHL league champions in consecutive games.

The host team can make it three-for-three tonight, dispatching the winners of the WHL, OHL, and now the QMJHL in succession. Should they do it, Montreal Canadiens prospect Cale Fleury and a team that hadn’t played a game since being eliminated from the WHL Playoffs on April 2 will hoist the Memorial Cup as the top team in the Canadian Hockey League.
