2018 IIHF World Championship schedule: May 20, 2018

Bronze medal game

9:45 AM ET: Canada (3rd, Pool B) vs United States (2nd, Pool B)

Two teams that opened the tournament against each other will finish it off against each other as well. The United States won the first game in a shootout, but the teams are slightly different from then. The US has added Nick Bonino and Charlie McAvoy while Canada has added Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Kyle Turris and lost Jaden Schwartz to an injury.

It will be interesting to see which team deals with the disappointment of losing the semifinal better which is always the challenge in a bronze medal game.

The game will be shown on TSN 1,3,4,5 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.

Gold medal game

2:15 PM ET: Sweden (1st, Pool A) vs Switzerland (4th, Pool A)

Switzerland is the best story of this tournament having beat Finland and Canada in back-to-back games and now they battle for gold.

Unfortunately for Switzerland, Sweden has been the best team all tournament and their additions like Filip Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson and Patric Hornqvist have made them even stronger.

Arvidsson had two goals in the 6-0 win against the United States, while Mikael Backlund had three assists. Canadiens forward Jacob de la Rose played 15:47 (4th among forwards) and had an assist in the semi-final win.

Switzerland’s NHL players surprisingly weren’t the reason they beat Canada, but they will definitely have to show up in this one. Remarkably, with Roman Josi and Kevin Fiala, this game has five members of the Nashville Predators. Add that to Turris and Bonino in the first game and seven Predators will be going for medals.

The game will be shown on TSN 1,3,4,5 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.

All games shown on TSN will be streamed on TSN Go in Canada, but it requires a subscription to TSN.
