2018 IIHF World Championship schedule: May 17, 2018

Everything you need to know about today’s games

10:15 AM ET: Russia (2nd, Pool A) vs Canada (3rd, Pool B)

Canada has struggled with goaltending and goal scoring at times in this tournament, needing overtime to beat Latvia in a 1-1 game and losing 5-1 to Finland. But they face Russia here, and the Canadians are a rare underdog. Connor McDavid will need to step up for Canada. Kirill Kaprizov and Pavel Datsyuk were Russia’s leading scorers in pool play and Vasili Koshechkin is leading the way in goal.

The game will be shown on TSN 1,3,4 and RDS in Canada.

10:15 AM ET: United States (2nd, Pool B) vs Czech Republic (3rd, Pool A)

The United States led Pool B all the way until the final game when Finland defeated them and passed them for top spot. The Czech Republic lost only to Sweden so far in this tournament.

The game will be shown on TSN 5 in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.

2:15 PM ET: Sweden (1st, Pool A) vs Latvia (4th, Pool B)

Latvia needed a 1-0 win in the pool play finale against host Denmark just to make it into the quarterfinal. Coach Bob Hartley has this team playing very well defensively and goaltender Elvis Merzlikins is a key contributor to that. In five games, he has a 1.19 GAA and ,949 save percentage with two shutouts. Sweden has been perfect all tournament, and with their recent additions are the strongest team in the tournament.

The game will be on TSN 1, 4 and RDS in Canada.

2:15 PM ET: Finland (1st, Pool B) vs Switzerland (4th, Pool A)

Harri Sateri has been the best goaltender in the tournament so far, and Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen are among the top three scorers. It’s no wonder Finland won their pool. Switzerland will need a big game from Reto Berra, Sven Andrighetto, Kevin Fiala, and Nino Niederreiter in order to pull off the upset.

The game will be on TSN 3, 5 in Canada.

All games shown on TSN will be streamed on TSN Go in Canada, but it requires a subscription to TSN. NHL Network in the US will be showing games as well, but listings did not always confirm which games will be shown.
