Habs and Leafs have preseason rematch in Quebec City

NHL: Preseason-Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The Habs will have a second chance to beat their rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs. This time, at the Centre Videotron in Quebec City tonight. It will be the first of three games in four nights for the bleu, blanc, et rouge.

Montreal was beaten soundly by Toronto Monday, losing 5-1 thanks to a Auston Matthews hat trick and goals from Patrick Marleau and William Nylander.

Carey Price will get the start for the Habs, while Zachary Fucale will back him up. He was called up from Laval yesterday. The Canadiens used an emergency goaltender, Jake Hildebrand, to backup Al Montoya in their 5-1 loss Monday.

Charlie Lindgren was supposed to start, but he got hurt during the pre-game warmup. The team has since announced that he is day-to-day with a lower body injury. Coincidentally, Al Montoya left practice this morning after taking a shot to his throat.

Jonathan Drouin will return to the lineup after missing Monday’s contest with an upper-body injury. Andrew Shaw, who has missed games due to a neck injury, will make his return to the lineup as well. Veterans Max Pacioretty, Shea Weber, and Brendan Gallagher will also get to play against Toronto.

Keep an eye out for Joe Morrow, Eric Gelinas, Brandon Davidson, and, of course, Victor Mete. All four will dress for tonight's game, as they each push for a spot the Habs' backline.

The Leafs will rest a number of their top-six forwards for tonight's game. Reminiscent of the Bruins-Habs encounter in Quebec City last week, the Leafs' big guns of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, Patrick Marleau, and William Nylander will get the night off. Curtis McElhinney will start in net for the Leafs.
