With their final overall pick in the 2017 entry draft, the Montreal Canadiens selected 6’2’’ 209lbs defender Jarret Tyszka from the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League.
In 54 games he registered 6 goals and 19 assists while playing primarily on Seattle’s second pairing. He’s an aggressive player which should see his offensive numbers increase this year, though he isn’t overly creative.

As it stands this was the final Canadiens draft pick this year, unless Marc Bergevin makes a trade to jump back into the final two rounds of the draft. Clearly, the scouting and draft team has bolstered a dwindling defensive pipeline with this pick, as they’ve done throughout the draft.
