Canadiens vs. Coyotes: Game thread, rosters, lines and how to watch

Can the Habs snap their four-game losing streak?

NHL: Arizona Coyotes at Montreal Canadiens Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

The start of the 2015-16 season was some good fun. With the Canadiens surrendering only one regulation loss in their first fifteen games (and collecting 12 wins), Habs fans were cautiously optimistic, citing last year’s collapse as the reason to reserve excitement.

“It’s a long season.”

And anyone who thought that way was correct. Over the proceeding 40 games, the Canadiens have won a total of 18 games, surrendering 16 regulation losses and 6 overtime/shootout losses.

While the Canadiens did do a good job despite an injury-riddled period between the end of November and end of January, the lineup is near fully restored, but signs of fatigue that resulted in having to cope with both a high number of injuries and a very intense schedule are seeming to take effect.

The good news? The Canadiens have just three games including tonight’s contest in Arizona before they take their bye week (which will provide a period of six days between games). The bad news? Those three games will be played over the next four days, between tonight and Sunday night.

While Marc Bergevin explores the trade market and analyzes the causes of his team’s regression, a fifth loss in a row, and second in a row to one of the league’s lowliest teams, could definitely factor into his decision-making as the Canadiens re-legitimize their place as a Stanley Cup contender.
