Canadiens vs. Islanders: Game thread, rosters, lines and how to watch

New, comments

The Habs look to win two in a row for the first time since the begining of January.

NHL: Montreal Canadiens at New York Islanders Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

It’s been a while since the Habs have been able to string together a couple of wins. You have to go back all the way to January 4 and 7 for the last time the Canadiens marked two wins in a row on the game calendar. Since then, the Canadiens have gone 7-11-2, and were shutout four times.

With Tuesday’s win, the Habs made their lives a little easier as the gap between first in the Atlantic has been reduced to just two points, and with teams chasing the Habs having games at hand. The fact a spectacular Carey Price save was the biggest thing to come out of that win is a relief, given how much of the team’s identity he said had disappeared revolves around him.

The New York Islanders come into Montreal in the midst of a heated race for a Wildcard spot, currently holding the second spot with five other teams just four points back of them. Since coach Jack Capuano was fired on January 17 the Islanders have had a record of 11-4-2, making them one of the hottest teams in the league.

Claude Julien - who reaches the 1,000 game milestone in games-coached tonight - is going with the same lineup tonight that conquered the Rangers in a shootout on Tuesday night.

Puck Drop is 7:30 PM EST / 4:30 PM PST
