Habs visit Brooklyn in the final game before the All-Star Break

NHL: Montreal Canadiens at New York Islanders Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

With All-Star weekend looming, the Canadiens look to go into the break on a good note.

A strong 5-1 win against a struggling Calgary Flames squad a few nights ago gives them some breathing space in the Atlantic Division standings, as they currently have an eight point cushion from the Ottawa Senators. Tonight, they have a chance to extend their winning ways against another struggling team.

The New York Islanders have not been able to keep up much success this season, recently firing head coach Jack Capuano, and are currently in a six-way tie for last place in the Eastern Conference. However, the Habs can’t sleep on the Islanders, as they have gone 4-1-0 in their last five.

Much of the credit for their success lately lies with their captain John Tavares, who has 6 points in those last 5 games. Thomas Greiss gets the start tonight for the Islanders, and has been one of the bright spots for New York, as he has a 23-13-7 record, accompanied by a .927 save percentage and 2.31 GAA.

No lineup changes for the Canadiens tonight, Carey Price gets the start tonight, who’s coming off very strong game against the Flames. He is 11-3-3 all time against the Islanders.
