Ottawa Senators vs. New York Rangers
Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 41 shots during game one, but it wasn’t enough as the Senators earned a 2-1 overtime win.
Rangers fans are used to seeing their goaltender steal the show. Unfortunately, they’re also used to him dragging the team the brink of victories, and many heartbreaking defeats, which is why they probably weren’t surprised by Lundqvist’s thousand mile stare.
Despite the exciting display we saw in game one, the talk of the town following Ottawa’s win was the low attendance, a growing issue in the Nation’s capital.

Washington Capitals at Pittsburgh Penguins
As expected, both Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin put on a show in game one, with Crosby’s Penguins prevailing following a third period Nick Bonino goal.
The Capitals put 35 shots on Marc-Andre Fleury’s net, but the veteran netminder did a fantastic job stealing the game, especially during the several mad scrambles near the goalmouth. Washington carried the play for the vast majority of the game, and will be hungry to even the series versus the division rivals.
