Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators have perhaps been the surprise of the playoffs so far, riding Guy Boucher’s strong defensive system and timely goal-scoring to two series wins and a date in the Conference Final.
The Pittsburgh Penguins will be their toughest test yet, with much more firepower than either the Boston Bruins or New York Rangers. No team has scored more than the Metropolitan Division’s representative in the final four. Of the top seven scorers in the post-season, four play for Pittsburgh, with Evgeni Malkin leading the playoffs in points, and Jake Guentzel holding the lead in what is a tight race for the goal-scoring lead.
In net it will be a resurgent Marc-Andre Fleury (and his lucky posts) versus Craig Anderson. Based on their stats so far and the talent level of the squads involved, you’d have to give the advantage to the goaltending of the Penguins, but Anderson is more than capable of stringing a few stellar performances together to steal the series for his side.
