2017 Memorial Cup: Windsor vs. Erie open thread — A showdown for a spot in the final

Windsor Spitfires vs. Erie Otters

The Spitfires have been a surprise in the tournament, outperforming the champions of both the QMJHL and WHL to secure a spot in the playoff round. They survived a late rally by the Saint John Sea Dogs to earn a 3-2 win in the first game of the tournament, and had a much more comfortable 7-1 victory on Sunday versus the now-eliminated Seattle Thunderbirds.

Windsor’s biggest test will take place in front of the home crowd tonight when they go up against the powerful offence of the Erie Otters. The OHL champions set a new event record with 12 goals in their win over Saint John on Monday, and have tallied 16 goals in two games to this point.

Mikhail Sergachev and the Windsor defence will need to contain Dylan Strome and his skilled teammates if the hosts are to earn a bye to the final. One of these two teams will claim that automatic berth with a victory tonight, so you can expect a spirited battle.

Prospects: Mikhail Sergachev (D-WSR), Jeremiah Addison (F-WSR)

Game starts at 7:00 PM EDT / 4:00 PM PDT
