The World Cup of Hockey continues today with team Europe taking on the Czech Republic, a matchup of two teams who had polar opposite results in their respective tournament openers.
For team Europe, it was a rather unexpected win. Taking on the United States, they made good on their opportunities to take a 3-0 win. Jaroslav Halak was nothing short of phenomenal in keeping the Americans off the board for his squad.
The Czech republic were also involved in a shutout game, but on the opposite end. Heavily outshot and out-possessed by Canada, Michal Neuvirth was beat six times, while Carey Price made life very hard for the Czech forwards.
This game is vital for both teams. Canada seems to be the odds-on favourite to win the group, but the second place spot seems totally up for grabs. Should be an exciting game to watch.
If Europe can take this game, they stand a very good chance of finishing second. If the Czechs take it, that race becomes very tight, and makes the group very interesting moving forward.
The puck drops at 3:00 PM, at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario.
