Chris Terry signed to a one-year, two-way contract by the Montreal Canadiens

Terry will join to the AHL team to replace some of the talent not retained at the end of the 2015-16 season.

After focusing on the NHL squad in the opening day of free agency, it seems July 2 is the day Marc Bergevin addresses the the AHL club.

Chris Terry has played 125 NHL over the last two seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes, but has only put up 31 points in that time. He has a similar game to Bud Holloway, so you can expect Terry to be seen as a veteran presence for the young prospects who remain in St. John's, and has the ability to play some spot duty in the NHL is required.

In 2013-14, Terry scored 69 points in 70 games with Carolina's farm team in Charlotte. The Habs will hope he can replicate that with the IceCaps.
